It’s not the thinnest or lightest gaming laptop, but it strikes a good balance between price, performance, and total weight. One of the things I like most about the Katana 15 is that it’s also a good everyday-carry for school and work.
But if you’re the kind of gamer that cares about topping leaderboards in synthetic benchmarks, or rendering a 3D image as fast as possible, you might find its middle-of-the-pack results disappointing. These results hardly mean the Katana 15 is slow.
In Geekbench 5, it scored 1781 for single-core performance and 11978 for multi-core revealing that, though it’s perfectly fine for gaming, it’s still a mid-range chip.īy contrast, the high-end Razer Blade 16 with a 13th-gen Core i9 CPU scored 193 on those same tests (and at a much, much higher price.) In Cinebench R23, it scored 1824 points for single-core performance and 15854 for multi-core, and in Puget System’s PugetBench benchmark for Adobe Premiere Pro, it scored 692, roughly 20% less than the Razer Blade 16. Once you look outside the realm of gaming, you’ll quickly discover the Katana 15 is fast enough for most tasks but isn’t a chart-topper. Since DLSS looks so close to the native resolution that you might not even notice a difference, there’s no reason not to turn it on wherever possible. With ray tracing off, the Katana 15 managed 37 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 Enabling DLSS with Frame Generation on Balanced Mode cranked the fps to 103. AI can reconstruct 87.5% of that frame, which means increased frame rates for you. DLSS Frame Generation takes this up a notch on Nvidia’s 40-series cards by creating an additional frame and pairing it with the Super Sampling-created frame. DLSS allows the GPU to intelligently upscale supported games, so you can turn up the graphics and enjoy higher frame rates without spending more money on a high-end (or enthusiast-grade) gaming laptop. Just like the desktop version, it can take advantage of Nvidia’s game-enhancing technologies like Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). Cyberpunk 2077, a much more graphically demanding game, pushed the GPU hard but still managed to deliver a smooth 84 fps. Total War: Warhammer 3 leaned more heavily on the CPU, dropping the average fps to 85. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was even more impressive, averaging 145 fps in outdoor scenes and nearly 200 fps in indoor scenes. In Far Cry 6, we recorded 106 frames per second (fps) on Ultra settings.

Better safe than sorry, plus it was a real person not a robot. The only time I had a problem was with my address apparently popping up as wrong even though I am 4th time customer with a presumable contact file or something but it didn’t bother me when they reached out. It’s crazy how quality continues to get better even though my 1st was amazing and still holding up great. I have 3 battle readys displayed and are definite conversation starters when we have people over. They’re just so consistent and beautiful. This hasn’t been my experience with Mini Katana at all, not mention, I haven’t really found better as far as replica swords go. Usually when you find something cool on TikTok it’s exciting and fun until you forget about it for something better. I didn’t expect to have an experience like I did but here’s my review.
